Welcome to Staggs Angus., a family-owned and operated Black Angus seedstock ranch located in Western Arkansas. Our journey began almost a decade ago, born from a passion to become a source for Black Angus heifers, cows and bulls for the area's farmers and ranchers. As full-time cattlemen we know the hard work and dedication it takes to maintain a successful ranch - and we recognize that our success is directly related to that of our customers. This is why we set high standards and strive to produce the region's finest seedstock.

Breeding principles. We strongly believe in two breeding principles.

First, great cows are the core of any successful cattle operation. We breed to produce females that will breed back quickly, calve unassisted, hold their flesh, milk heavy and perform well on grass. By breeding for these characteristics, our cows and bulls possess the features that cattlemen need: calving ease, fertility, growth and eye appeal.

Second, we don't chase the numbers. EPDs are some of the most useful tools in the business today; however, if used improperly they have potential to compromise the quality of Black Angus herds. We pair bulls and cows together based on their phenotype and maternal characteristics, not simply a number.

AI and ET. We are very proud of our AI and embryo transfer program. A large portion of this work is performed in the facilities here on our ranch, which provides better results and more direct involvement in the program. Donors are selected based on their proven production in the local environment. They have average birth, weaning and yearling ratios of 97, 105 and 104, respectively. The herd cows undergo the same selection process, or they are raised here on our ranch. Our donors and cows matched with today's leading AI sires - as well as locally raised bulls - produce calves with the appearance, growth and marketability that farmers and ranchers desire.
